An Exploration of the Goddess – her features, her tools, and her embodiment

Last week, the GGTG Collective met to explore the Goddess archetype, a representation of the authentic, powerful, compassionate creator that exists within every woman. We discussed how to identify her, explore her, and work with her as we heal our Good Girl so that we can embody our Goddess more of the time. The replay is available on the GGTG online community for GGTG Collective members.

How do we identify our Goddess?

Embodying the Goddess more of the time is a key goal of the GGTG program, but how do we get to know her?

We can identify and come to know our Goddess by using the tools described in the program, including meditation, coming into the body, and journalling.

Deploying these tools, we can:

  • Notice what we are doing when we are in a flow state
  • Feel the calm space inside and come to know its qualities
  • Pay attention to what we are doing when we get the chills, feel joyful or ecstatic

Each of these experiences is indicative of “Goddess Mode” allowing us to be fully present in the moment, in our bodies, able to hear and feel what activities, conditions, and experiences truly resonate with our authentic self.

Discovering our Goddess

The process of identifying the Goddess within also involves a conscious awareness of the why behind our day-to-day activities. To what extent are we doing things because they are expected of us, as compared with doing things that authentically bring us joy? When do we act out of obligation rather than pursuing our passions and expressing our authenticity?

The challenge is to observe these behaviors and not to judge them! We are mindful not to use Good Girl habits destructively to attempt to shift into Goddess Mode. Non-judgmental observation, along with a recognition of the emotions that come up when we observe repetitive, compulsive, “Good Girl” habits allows us to make different choices.

Some useful tools from the GGTG Collective

The GGTG Collective discussed spending a day, or even a week, writing in our journals about our activities and whether they would fall into the “Good Girl” or “Goddess” categories.

What aspects of our lives feel authentic and bring us joy, such that we do them just because we feel passionate about them? This gives us a “point B” that we can orient our lives toward, making small, incremental changes that make more space for these activities in our lives.

Other ways you can discover your Goddess is to listen to her talk to you – she uses the still, small voice inside. She also communicates through the bodily sensations of joy, exhilaration, and peace.

Embodying the Goddess

Here are some tips for embodying your Goddess more often:

  • Listen to your intuition
  • Feel into your body
  • Observe self-critical / mean thoughts non-judgmentallly
  • Identify and strengthen your boundaries
  • Invest in yourself through time, resources, priorities
  • Lean into joy, day by day

The Goddess Toolkit

Incorporating the tools below into your day-to-day life will enable you to become better acquainted with your Goddess:

  • Self-compassion (she doesn’t have it all figured out, but she is becoming more aware of the issues causing discomfort)
  • Self-exploration (especially triggers)
  • Have your own back (using the vehible of healthy boundaries)
  • Forgive it all (especially yourself!)
  • Love yourself (for example, through daily self-care)
  • Create, play, imagine! (try writing a poem, taking a photo, or drawing a picture)

This is a trajectory, not a destination!

The Good Girl to Goddess program sets out a trajectory we can follow to heal our Good Girl and embody our Goddess more of the time. The process itself is the point, so that each day, more and more, we can live from Goddess Mode to create a life of greater joy, passion, and peace.
